My practice

Dr Iswadi Damasena is a fellowship trained hip and knee surgeon having worked with world leading orthopaedic surgeons, using cutting edge techniques and the latest medical science available. At SPOC, we have a specialty interest in the sporting athletes knee, hip and knee degenerative disease as well as injury prevention and treatment. We also believe the patient is at the centre of that process and together we can maximise your ability to return to your desired goal.

About Dr Iswadi Damasena

 

Biography

 

Dr Iswadi Damasena is an Australian trained Orthopaedic surgeon specialising in the treatment of hip and knee conditions. Dr Damasena graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with Honours from the University of Tasmania and then continued Orthopaedic training in the Western Australian Orthopaedic training program. He has also completed a Diploma of Surgical Anatomy. A keen sportsman, Dr Damasena enjoys Australian rules football, running and cycling. He recently completed the London and New York Marathons.

 

Experience

 

Dr Damasena undertook a fellowship at University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire UK with International renowned surgeons Mr Tim Spalding and Mr Pete Thompson in complex knee surgery including ACL surgery, Cartilage preservation surgery, multi-ligament reconstruction, meniscal transplantation, knee osteotomy and surgery for the degenerative knee. He has also undertaken a fellowship at Orthosport Victoria in complex knee reconstructive techniques and hip replacement with Professor Julian Feller, Mr Tim Whitehead, Mr Cameron Norsworthy and Mr Brian Devitt. Dr Damasena has an active clinical practice at Box Hill Hospital, The Avenue Hospital, Epworth Eastern Hospital and Cabrini Malvern Hospital. He has undertaken multiple research projects and has published papers in hip and knee surgery.

 

Specialities

 

Dr Damasena is available for bookings in relation to hip and knee conditions both long standing and acute, trauma and injuries of both upper and lower limbs, as well as independent medical examinations, workplace injuries, transport accidents, public liability matters, total permanent disability and medical negligence claims.

 

Research and teaching

 

Dr Damasena continues to have an active role in multiple research papers and has previously extensively published on orthopaedic hip and knee conditions and written several book chapters. Click here for a list of publications.

Dr Damasena enjoys teaching both medical students and junior doctors as part of their training. He regularly gives tutorials for the orthopaedic trainees leading up to their board examinations.

Dr Damasena is also available for complex case discussion, telemedicine assessment and file review.
